  • Electronic Cigar Explosion

Posted on February 18, 2012 by Mysti Reutlinger

For many smokers, electronic cigarettes have become a way of life. An accident occurring in Niceville, Florida has many e cig users questioning the safety of their product at this time. We want to address the concerns of our customers and the electronic cigarette community today.

Tom Holloway, 57, was rushed to the hospital earlier this week after a cigar sized electronic cigarette blew up as he was vaping. He sustained burns to his face, lost teeth, and a portion of his tongue. Mr. Holloway has been released from the burn center in Alabama to continue recovering from his accident at home.

The 9-1-1 transcript was released where Mrs. Holloway reported that her husband was smoking an electronic cigar when it exploded. Chief Butch Parker of the North Bay Fire District responded to the call. “I have never heard of or seen anything like this before,” Parker told ABCNews. Although the battery was unrecognizable after the incident, Parker reported finding several 3.0 volt CR123A type batteries charging in the room along with a scorched battery case that appeared to be one for a cigar-sized device.

While this is the first reported electronic cigarette explosion and injury, another person recently reported a similar explosion that occurred while charging his modified device. On February 5, 2012, Chris Hornsby published a YouTube video showing the damage caused by his Ego-T that exploded while charging. The device exploded while connected to a USB charger. The battery shot out the bottom and hit his printer causing a fire. Continue Reading

  • The SafeCig Brings Hope

Posted on February 15, 2012 by Mysti Reutlinger

Hope that life will be beautiful, amazing, and filled with good health.

What I love about the Safe Cig is hope.  A restoration of hope that is crucial to every aspect of my life.  Hope that I can live my life tobacco free.  The hope of a long life without self-inflicted health problems from smoking.  Hope for my mother to be able to quit smoking when she already has numerous medical problems.  Hope that my future wife can easily put down cigarettes for the rest of her life after saying that she never would.

I have struggled with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.  I have tried to conquer my addictions and weaknesses ever since I was a kid.  After failing over and over, hope has dwindled with every defeat.  When I found the Safe Cig, I became filled with hope again.  Being smoke-free for one month today, this is the first time in a long time that I feel strong and in control of my life.  The ability to breathe better, not smell like an ashtray, and to save money are all great benefits from using the Safe Cig.  However, the reason that I love the Safe Cig is that it Continue Reading

  • Contest Announcement: What You Love about E-Cigs

Posted on February 5, 2012 by Mysti Reutlinger

    It's contest time!

In celebrating Valentine's Day, we would like to know what you love about electronic cigarettes.

What's not to love? At least from our perspective, electronic cigarettes are pretty great. You have the freedom to stay in from various weather circumstances, seems you can be around many people without an offending smell, you aren't adding noxious smoke with thousands of chemicals and more into the air, and you might just be inspiring another smoker to throw away analogs (tobacco cigarettes) forever. To us, that's reason to celebrate! While we know why we love electronic cigarettes, we'd still like to know why you like them, too!

    Contest Rules

All entries must be a minimum of 150 words.
Entries must be emailed to Contest@thesafecig.com
Entries are due by 6 am PST February 12, 2012.

  • A Parent's Desire to Quit Smoking

Posted on January 7, 2012 by Mysti Reutlinger

For some smokers, finding an alternative to traditional cigarettes is personal; very personal. Smoking is not limited to only young people or old. Cigarettes encompass the lives of middle-class Americans raising families of their own. With every craving and cigarette lit, a smoker can look around and see their future running around them, laughing and [...]

  • Revisiting Success - SafeCig User Testimonial

Posted on December 18, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

A few months ago, I brought you a personal story of tragedy inspiring triumph as Emma Ramshaw shared of the losses she had in her life as a result of cigarettes. Knowing she could be just another statistic in the growing epidemic of deaths resulting from cigarettes, Emma made a decision to eliminate tobacco cigarettes from her life.

Emma lived with smokers growing up. As an adult, she followed in their footsteps. When the urgency to quit smoking hit Emma, the number of quit attempts continued to increase; all without success. As the saying goes, "To achieve success in what you desire, you must stop doing things the same way; reaching out to new horizons." Emma found a new horizon in an alternative to cigarettes. While she knew that she would still be satisfying her craving for nicotine, she would be doing so without the 4,000 chemicals found in cigarettes. "It was worth a try." Emma thought.

This week Emma shared an update on our Facebook page. Along with the update, Emma shared the picture featured here. She stated, Continue Reading

  • What is The Safe Cig?

Posted on November 6, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

The Safe Cig is the original electronic cigarette company in the United States. Our goal is to eliminate smoke, pollution, tar, and smell from all smokers. Tobacco smoke is deadly with over 4,000 chemicals; at least 70 of those are known carcinogens (cancer-causing agents). Many of our clients are approaching 1, 2, and 3-year anniversaries of being cigarette and tobacco-free. Some of our clients are using nicotine-free refills while others are thoroughly enjoying satisfying their craving for nicotine through one of our five refill strengths; 24 mg, 18 mg, 14 mg, 11 mg, and 6 mg.

We are not selling a nicotine-replacement product. Our product is not FDA approved to be used as a smoking-cessation device. It is an alternative that delivers nicotine without smoke. As with other tobacco products, anyone purchasing either of our electronic cigarette models must be of legal smoking age; 18 or 21 based off rules and regulations of the purchaser's location. We do ship our product world-wide.

We launched with the Original battery and only three flavors to our eCig. In September, 2011, we introduced the Micro and an assortment of flavored refills to our product line. At the end of October, we added the same flavor assortment to the original and will be incorporating five additional nicotine levels to our flavored refill line before Christmas. The Micro is the world's smallest eCigarette. Continue Reading

  • Your Comments are Requested: Proposed Amendment Banning eCigs

Posted on November 3, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

We are reaching out to you this morning to ask that you take a few minutes of your time and inform the Department of Transportation about your eCig experiences. The DOT is currently working on a proposed amendment that will ban the use of eCigarettes on all passenger aircraft. These flights will include in-state, out-of-state, and foreign flights. Additionally, the regulation would impose a fine up to $3,300 if any person is caught "smoking" on an airplane.

Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association (CASAA) has provided a list of statements and helpful tips that will assist you in making an opposing statement. Continue Reading

  • The Best of the Best; The Safe Cig's Battery

Posted on October 27, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

Electronic cigarettes come in a variety of styles, shapes, and flavors. Not all electronic cigarettes are the same. It is apparent in the eCig industry that some names stand far above the crowd in technological advances that create a near-perfect simulation to tobacco and paper cigarettes. The Safe Cig is, by far, the most advanced in technology over other electronic cigarettes on the market.

We feel a responsibility to develop the usability, safety and reliability of these products. Not only are we devoted to creating a world class product, but we actually have it in our hands right now and are making it available to the public. The Safe Cig is the only electronic cigarette company in America that privately funds all of its own research, development and engineering for all of their products.

The technological advances make a world of a difference in the vaping experience. The battery is a powerhouse of technology that creates a vaping experience far greater than other eCigs on the market today. Continue Reading
