  • Lung Cancer - Often Undetected Until It Is "Too Late"

Posted on November 13, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

According to the CDC's November 11 issue of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, 68.8 percent of current smokers say they want to quit and 52.4 percent tried to quit during the past year. No matter how many people want to quit or attempt to quit, tobacco cigarettes are still creating an immense risk of many types of cancer including lung cancer.

Nancy Meenan shared her experience with losing her husband to lung cancer in a letter to the Editor at phillyBlurbs.com. The following is her statement:

My husband passed away in July of small-cell lung cancer. He was told by the oncologist that small-cell is directly caused by smoking and is a very aggressive cancer. By the time he showed symptoms, it was too late. The doctor also said there has been no progress in finding a way to cure small-cell lung cancer in the last 20 years.

  • Thank You to Our Service Men for Our Freedom

Erica Burrell Design - Veterans Day

Photo used with expressed written permission from Erica Burrell

Thank you to the men and women who have spent their adult-years protecting and preserving our freedoms. It is the dedication soldiers bring to the office every day that ensures our ability to live our lives the way we desire -- from the clothes we wear to the food we eat; those choices are an every day reminder of how valuable our Military personnel are in our lives.

It isn't just those serving who are risking their lives. Behind every soldier is a family who knows that this deployment could mean the end of life as they know. Many of those families band together and run organizations that work hard to encourage, educate, and supply other families with the necessities they need. Those waiting at home spend hours planning coming-home celebrations for soldiers in their units, mindful that not all soldiers are returning home to their families... Continue Reading

  • What Are Combustion Byproducts?

Posted on November 10, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

Cigarette Combustion ByproductsAt The Safe Cig and with many other electronic cigarette companies, the term combustion byproducts is often used. Understanding what that term means in relation to cigarettes will further enhance your knowledge of eCigarettes and what is being eliminated.

Combustion byproducts are the secondary chemicals created through the process of burning any substance. In cigarettes, the combustion process is responsible for the chemical reaction that changes nicotine containing tobacco and cigarette paper into smoke with over 4,000 toxic chemicals. Included in that figure are a minimum of 40 known carcinogens (cancer causing agents) with some reports claiming as many as 70 carcinogens.  Continue Reading

  • New York Times Reports: "A Tool to Quit Smoking Has Some Unlikely Critics"

Posted on November 8, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

    Reports

The New York Times published an article yesterday about the use of electronic cigarettes being used in Italy as a means to help smokers quit. "The user 'vapes,' or puffs on the vapor to get a hit of the addictive nicotine (and the familiar sensation of bringing a cigarette to one's mouth) without the noxious substances found in cigarette smoke."

The last decade and more has been dedicated to bringing awareness of the harmful effects of cigarette and tobacco use by many organizations globally. The World Health Organization has made smoking one of their highest concerns and the plight to counsel those still smoking leave many in public health positions frustrated with their positions. No matter how frustrating many find their positions in the fight against tobacco, Italian researchers are finding great success in eliminating cigarettes from smokers with the aid of electronic cigarettes.

Riccardo Polosa lead a team of researchers at the University of Catania. They recruited 40 hard-core smokers Continue Reading

  • Where Can I Use my Electronic Cigarette?

Posted on November 8, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

One client was able to vape in the hospital!Electronic cigarettes are changing the smoking industry. Cigarette bans stretch far and wide across the world. Some bans are much more extensive and even prohibit smoking in apartments and other multi-family housing units. Knowing where you can use your electronic cigarette and some tips on educating others about the system will assist in ensuring that eCigarettes continue to be allowed where bans prohibit traditional tobacco cigarettes, also called analogs.

In September, one of our clients had to be admitted into the hospital for surgery. He knew that he would be facing multiple weeks in the hospital and would not be allowed to step outside for a cigarette. Prior to admission for his surgery, he popped onto our Facebook page and asked if people were able to vape while in the hospital. We had received testimonials and photos from other clients who were afforded the privilege of vaping and we expressed that to this client. We reminded him that he needed to educate the staff about his electronic cigarette and ask for permission. Continue Reading

    On battery replacement:

    S. Zap said, "We purchased the Safe Cig kit in July and were very pleased with the product. Wife is the smoker and she readily adapted to the safe cig. Menthol flavor and amount of vapor were obvously different than real cigarettes, but very acceptable. We had one battery that quit charging, and Safe Cig replaced it no problem."

We offer a lifetime warranty on our electronic parts including our batteries. Occasionally one battery will malfunction and requires replacement. We understand this and will be happy to replace that battery at no charge!

  • What is The Safe Cig?

Posted on November 6, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

The Safe Cig is the original electronic cigarette company in the United States. Our goal is to eliminate smoke, pollution, tar, and smell from all smokers. Tobacco smoke is deadly with over 4,000 chemicals; at least 70 of those are known carcinogens (cancer-causing agents). Many of our clients are approaching 1, 2, and 3-year anniversaries of being cigarette and tobacco-free. Some of our clients are using nicotine-free refills while others are thoroughly enjoying satisfying their craving for nicotine through one of our five refill strengths; 24 mg, 18 mg, 14 mg, 11 mg, and 6 mg.

We are not selling a nicotine-replacement product. Our product is not FDA approved to be used as a smoking-cessation device. It is an alternative that delivers nicotine without smoke. As with other tobacco products, anyone purchasing either of our electronic cigarette models must be of legal smoking age; 18 or 21 based off rules and regulations of the purchaser's location. We do ship our product world-wide.

We launched with the Original battery and only three flavors to our eCig. In September, 2011, we introduced the Micro and an assortment of flavored refills to our product line. At the end of October, we added the same flavor assortment to the original and will be incorporating five additional nicotine levels to our flavored refill line before Christmas. The Micro is the world's smallest eCigarette. Continue Reading

  • Your Comments are Requested: Proposed Amendment Banning eCigs

Posted on November 3, 2011 by Mysti Reutlinger

We are reaching out to you this morning to ask that you take a few minutes of your time and inform the Department of Transportation about your eCig experiences. The DOT is currently working on a proposed amendment that will ban the use of eCigarettes on all passenger aircraft. These flights will include in-state, out-of-state, and foreign flights. Additionally, the regulation would impose a fine up to $3,300 if any person is caught "smoking" on an airplane.

Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association (CASAA) has provided a list of statements and helpful tips that will assist you in making an opposing statement. Continue Reading
