Of course many of the seniors have been smoking since they were teenagers, so if you can imagine having a packet a habit for 75 years, and you are 90 –stopping is less than appealing.

Electronic Cigarette to Ease Nicotine Withdrawal

By RB On July 10, 2010 No Comments

Nicotine withdrawal is probably the most difficult part of trying to stop smoking. The unpleasant cravings and familiarity of a long standing habit holds the key to more failures than success when it comes to quitting. For many smokers if they could only find a way around the first several days of cravings, they would welcome a chance to kick the habit for good. Fortunately, electronic cigarettes can be a key player in smoking cessation. With many manufacturers offering a variety of nicotine levels, a smoker can start at or close to the nicotine level found in their regular cigarettes and then gradually taper down on their time schedule and when they feel most ready. Even zero mg nicotine refills can be purchased to help smokers wean from the “habit” of smoking once the nicotine withdrawals have stopped.

By RB On May 27, 2010 No Comments

Until now, smokers have had a limited choice when it comes to nicotine replacement. Sure there’s patches, pills and gum–but the amount of nicotine contained in those is predetermined. Electronic cigarettes can offer a level of flexibility that many smokers may not be aware of when it comes to nicotine replacement. E-cigs work by heating liquid nicotine inside a device that looks almost identical to regular cigarettes. This vaporizes the nicotine which can then be inhaled without smoke, tar, chemicals or odor.

Electronic Cigarette Helps Cessation

By RB On May 20, 2010 No Comments

Research from the New England Journal of Medicine reports that smoking cessation can be catchy. When smokers join forces with their social circle–or even just one friend or family member then they are much more likely to stop. The Canadian Lung association has developed a fun new way to invite a friend to stop smoking. By sending an e-card, smokers can invite another person to quit along with them. Studies have long suggested that support, along with nicotine replacements like gums, electronic cigarettes, or patches can increase success when quitting.
