What Are You Smoking?

Do you know what you're smoking?
Hey, smokers. I have a quick question for you. What do you smoke?
How many of you answered “cigarettes”, “cigars”, or “pipes”?
Thanks for the information, but that’s not what I wanted to know. Cigarettes, pipes, and cigars are merely a delivery system for the nicotine, tobacco and other ingredients in your “filter” of choice. When you light up your cigarette and inhale, do you know exactly what’s going into your body?
It’s important to smokers and non-smokers alike to have the cold-hard facts about cigarette smoking. Whether you’re a long-time smoker toying with the idea to quit, or a non-smoker trying to get the message through the heads of those you care about, the facts are what make things all the clearer.
Cigarettes have a number of harmful ingredients. They have over 4,000 chemicals, 400 toxins, and 43 cancer causing compounds. The list of ingredients in a cigarette is as long as it is astounding. There are 599 ingredients in cigarettes. 599. Let that sink in for a moment.
…. You back? Great.
Of these ingredients are some that you may never have heard of; Allyl Hexanoate, Davana Oil, Para-Cymene, surely aren’t ever on your list of things to grab at the supermarket. However, some of these may sound familiar to you:
Tar, Nicotine (insecticide), Carbon Monoxide (car exhaust fumes) Acetone (nail polish remover), Arsenic (rat poison), Hydrogen Cyanide (poison used in gas chambers), Formaldehyde (embalming fluid often used to preserve dead bodies), Ammonia (household cleaning agent).
This is only 8 of the 599 ingredients. There are 591 other ingredients, many harmful to our bodies.
Now that you know, I want to ask you again. Hey, smokers, what are you smoking?
…On the other hand, you can know all of what is in an electronic cigarette in 60 seconds and enjoy a healthy smoking alternative.
